PROJECT INFORMATION FOR PARTICIPANTS
You are participating in this survey applied in the frame of the TL-SEEDS research project. The aim of your collaboration is to gather your vision and perspective on sustainability education. Along with you, other actors will take part, which will allow us to collect a wide range of perspectives within the educational and social spheres.
Before making a decision on whether you want to participate or not, please read the next information carefully. Please ask all the questions you may have so you can be completely sure to understand all the proceedings of the research. At all times, we assure compliance with the current legislation.
The project Transformative Learning for Sustainability and Ethics in Higher Education STEAM (TL-SEEDS) (project PID2023-146356NB-I00 funded by the Agencia Estatal de Investigación) aims to ensure that future graduates of the STEAM Higher Education System acquire the necessary competencies in sustainability and ethics, as well as a proactive attitude, to become change agents and catalysts for progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) outlined in the 2030 Agenda and future sustainability agendas.
At its different stages, the project will collect information from the educational community (teaching staff, students, etc.) as well as from experts in the field. Data collection will be carried out through questionnaires, interviews, focus groups, document analysis (student productions), and classroom observations. This data collection may include recordings (audio or video) of these activities, but anonymity of participants will be guaranteed.
Purpose of your participation.
Your participation contributes directly to the objectives of the TL-SEEDS research project. The project aims to gain a deeper understanding and generate insights that will inform future educational interventions, grounded in the perspectives and experiences of diverse educational and societal stakeholders.
Through expert interviews, focus groups, workshops and questionnaires, the study seeks to identify patterns of thought, values, and concerns that influence STEAM students at UPC perspectives. These insights will support the learning interventions (methods, instruments, training and so on) that effectively address confirmation biases in sustainability education, ensuring empirically grounded and ethically responsive.
What will happen to me if I take part?
You will participate in a survey that should take no more than 20 minutes. It includes both closed and open-ended questions about your experience or knowledge regarding the competencies related to sustainability values and ethics needed in STEAM higher education to promote sustainability. You may decline to answer any question or indicate that you do not have opinion.
What are the possible risks or benefits of taking part?
There are no specific risks associated with participation.
Confidentiality and data usage
Data will be collected anonymously to ensure participant confidentiality. All data will be securely stored in a dedicated Google Drive folder, accessible only to members of the project team via a password-protected platform.
The data will be used to support the analysis of participants' reflections, engagement, and the integration of diverse perspectives from educational and societal stakeholders. This will enable the research team to conduct an in-depth exploration of values, opinions, and concerns related to ethics in technology and sustainability.
What will happen to the study results?
The results of the study will be published through reports, peer-reviewed journal articles, and conference papers. Additionally, the results may be used to inform future research initiatives.
Freedom to withdraw
Your participation is voluntary. You may refuse to answer the questions without giving a reason. You can also withdraw from the survey after starting it, at any point. You do not have to give a reason for doing so.
